Extended families sessions are so much fun!
When Chris contacted me about a session for her kids and grandkids I was so excited. I was happy for a few different reasons.
Number one: it is an honor to be contacted by families to take their pictures. The photography industry is a hard career to be in. You really have to put yourself out there and stand apart and every inquiry is a compliment on our art and that you enjoy the work we are working so hard to create.
Number two: I LOVE big families. I grew up just myself and a half brother while my husband grew up with three siblings and TONS of cousins. Seeing all these families and working with large families makes my heart so happy. The dynamics are so different with larger families but they are so special!
Number three: It is so hard to get big groups together. As a MN family photographer I was thrilled to know that I was available on the one day that these guys were able to get their kids and grandkids out to their lakehome to get updated pictures of them all.
To get lighting that is ideal it is hard to keep the little campers happy so I started the session out with the handsome Dax and his brother. Adding individual images of each child is really nice to be able to update frames in the house, design an album that coordinates or just put together décor that all goes well together.
Plus I really pride myself on providing parents with images that really capture their childs personality and ideally lots of happiness too!
I couldn't be happier with these images. Dax was just so done with pictures before we even started and it can be hard to get this many people to be lit correctly and posed nicely.
As a MN family photographer I really prefer to have images be more natural and not as stiffly posed. After all your images should really tell a story about you and not just be a 1920's still scowl portrait.
